Our abbey
Abbey Maria Toevlucht has its origins in 1900 and was originally intended as a refuge for French monks who were fleeing after the French Revolution. In 1938 the priory of Zundert was elevated to an abbey. Over the years, the abbey has undergone many changes, not just architecturally.
Our guest house
More and more people are choosing to temporarily withdraw from their busy lives, to experience what the mind needs: silence, rest and prayer. The unique location also encourages reflection. the monastery gate is therefore always open to guests who are willing to respect the rules.
Our abbey shop
In our abbey shop we offer a nice selection of abbey products, books, CDs and religious articles. And of course we also sell our own Zundert Trappist beer.
Our brewery
A beer is only a Trappist beer if it is brewed within the walls of a Trappist abbey, under the responsibility of the monks. There are only a limited number of Trappist breweries worldwide, two of which are located in the Netherlands.
